Orange County Museum
of Art
The Orange County Museum of Art wanted to redesign their brand and website to visually represent the shift that was happening, which was the new building designed by Morphosis. The visual identity, brand materials, and website reference the physical space the museum occupies. Southern California is a complex, multilayered place, connected to its ecological and geographical features – the sky, ocean, trees, and architecture. OCMA’s visual identity and website feature a dynamic design system that reflects the light and space of Southern California. The OCMA collection also features a strong representation of California art and the Light and Space movement.

My role in the project was to establish a brand identity and web design that spoke to the complexity of Southern California. Through the use of color and understanding of time that’s reflected in the skies, the brand features colored hues that shift throughout the day based on the current time in Orange County, CA. The typeface, Kent was designed by Jaimey Shapey ︎︎︎
